Worship

At Ellesmere, our Sunday service is only the beginning for worship.  We believe that worship and prayer should not be limited to the traditional church service, but that at the same time we should not abandon our roots.  We hold Sunday morning worship every week, accompanied by music.  Preceding the service, we share tea, coffee, and fellowship.  We also have Sunday School available for children.

Worship, however, takes many other forms.  On Thursdays, we hold a simple communion service open to anyone who would like a space for renewal in the midst of a busy week.  The Thursday service includes prayer and a short discussion about a biblical passage before receiving the sacrament.

Since worship can be individual, anyone is welcome to our sanctuary whenever the church is open.  Come walk the labyrinth or meditate in this peaceful space.

Worship is also about learning, and consequently we often have groups or talks on different aspects of faith.  For information on specific programs and talks, see the Events Calendar or notices on our home page.

Through these varied forms of worship, we strive to be sensitive to our long Christian tradition, while also seeking ways to express our faith in contemporary contexts.
